My Friend's Son: Question 4 - Simply Consistent
Apr 24, 2024
As we explore the 4th question in the series of questions I received recently from an incredibly insightful emerging leader, my hope is, through this process, we can all improve our self-awareness, communication, and overall social confidence, and lean into proven exercises, tangible take-aways, and practical applications that can be applied on the daily.
The question we’re addressing this week is…
How can I be the best version of myself every day, and amplify my best qualities as a person?
When I first read this question, I thought it was quite the lofty goal and it felt a bit unattainable. But with some reflection, and in the spirit of high standards, it’s a noble and imperfect pursuit to be the best version of ourselves on the daily, and it’s certainly worth attempting.
In that noble attempt, and in the pursuit of this lofty goal on the daily, we should also establish some realistic expectations, backed by some practical and sustainable behaviors. This leads me to one of our most practical and achievable Game On concepts, “REST. FUEL. MOVE” where we focus on the importance and power of resting well, fueling with intention, and moving with purpose. In so doing, my hope is we can all activate the power of being… Simply Consistent.
With that said, below is our Game On 3-part ETA. 1. Exercise, 2. Take-Away, 3. Application format to help us do our best, on the daily, to embrace the importance and power of… resting, fueling, and moving well, so we can be the best version of ourselves, on the daily.
1. Exercise: “REST. FUEL. MOVE.” Think of these three words literally as sleeping, eating, and exercising well. Doing all three is a proven gateway for improving your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Now, take it a step further, and think of these three words on a deeper level, and see if you can also REST by pausing, FUEL by seeking healthy interactions, and MOVE by being purposeful about impacting others.
2. Take-Away: Embrace Simplicity: Let’s try to avoid complicating this process. Instead, I encourage us all to lean into simplicity, which is a much healthier and attainable track that can lead us into consistency.
3. Practical Application:
Find a moment each day to not just REST, but to PAUSE… before reacting.
Find a moment each day to not just FUEL, but to CONSUME… something positive and uplifting.
Find a moment each day to not just MOVE, but to IMPACT… others.
We hope the exploration of some of the questions from My Friend's Son have provided some practical behaviors that you can implement on the daily. Continue to follow along as the Game On team shares best practices in how we get our Connection, Communication, and Teamwork On.
Game On!
